Abstracts of Some Twiggs County Georgia Records, 1976
Foreword and Editor's Note
When I first started to research my Twiggs County ancestors, it was considered almost a hopeless task, because the first hundred years of court house records had been destroyed by fire. If you were lucky, as I was in many instances, you had access to Bible, cemetery, and other wonderful family records, both private and published. But what of the others? So I began to abstract any references to Twiggs County I found in old newspapers, other courthouse records, family Bibles, etc.
During the years I have given most of these records to friends who were collecting Twiggs County items for publication. But in going over my notes recently, I found these. So it is my pleasure to add these to the fine collection we have today. It is suggested that these abstracts be used only as a guide and that the original records be carefully consulted, when possible, for more complete information. Please note that the spelling conforms to the original records and has not been edited.

Author's Note: This small book contains primarily newspaper references to Twiggs County, records in my possession, records from the Georgia Department of Archives and History and other sources. It is "out of print", but I am considering a small, soft-bound reprint. If you are interested in obtaining a copy or have questions please contact me at author@twiggscounty.com
