Restored almost completely through work of the Richland
Restoration League, Inc., in the past five years, Richland Baptist Church in
Twiggs County will gleam whitely in the September sun when it welcomes its
few surviving members and hundreds of descendants of its early members for a
program next Sunday to dedicate a marker beside the old church. Hoop
skirted girls from the community, men in the costumes of that era will add
to the atmosphere of a century ago when the church was in its heyday. |

From the John Ball Chapter, DAR, a group of
members gets a preview of the marker they helped secure. Left to
right, Mrs. Henry Faulk, Sr., one of the few remaining members of the old
church; Mrs. O. T. Chapman, Mrs. John Faulk, Mrs. Kathleen J. Carswell, Mrs.
W. T. Wall. |

George Axam, right, who has lived long in
the old Richland community, will bring his horse and wagon back to Richland
for the unveiling exercises to add to the old-time atmosphere. Hugh
Faulk, Jr. helps Austelle Faulk to alight. On the steps are Mary Ruth
Rozier, Dot Carswell, Glendolyn Phillips. |

These are the graves of the Rev. Henry Bunn, one of the
church's first pastors and only one buried in the Richland Church Cemetery,
and his wife, Nancy, many of whose descendants will attend the unveiling of
the marker at the church Sunday. |
